Book an Appointment
Hey there!
So happy you’re here. You’ll see service offerings below. Please note, any services listed as physiotherapy are only available to residents of Ontario, CAD. Services listed as Rider Performance are available to out-of-province and international clients.
Travel fees apply for on-site appointments.
As I need to coordinate my travel times, in-person sessions are available to book only by contacting me directly. Please take a look at my availability and reach out through my contact form to book your session.
Additionally, a Physiotherapy, Equine, or Rider Performance Assessment is required to be booked before any follow up sessions (60, 45, or 30 minutes) can be requested. During the evaluation, we will come up with a collaborative plan for a follow-up frequency/duration that fits your’s and your horse’s needs and rehab plan.
Please note that all appointments are booked in EASTERN TIME and late cancellation and no-show fees still apply for appointments missed due to time zone difference. If you have a preferred time zone for your appointment bookings, you can update this within your Jane profile (instructions here). Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
Welcome to The Equestrian Physio.
Physiotherapy (Ontario Residents Only)
Physiotherapy is a specialized field of healthcare that focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating physical ailments or injuries. It aims to enhance performance, facilitate recovery, and minimize the risk of injuries through tailored exercises, manual techniques, and therapeutic modalities, ensuring riders maintain optimal strength, flexibility, and balance both in and out of the saddle.
Physiotherapy services are offered only to residents of Ontario. These services can be traditional physiotherapy/ injury rehab, as well as rider performance assessments, consults, and sessions. You do not require a doctors referral to access physiotherapy services, however some extended health providers may require one. Please reach out to your extended health provider directly if you are unsure if you require a doctors note.
Unfortunately I am unable to offer physiotherapy services to clients outside of the province of Ontario due to restrictions within my registration, however, you are welcome to request to book under Rider Performance if you are located Nationally or Internationally.
Rider Performance (International Clients)
Many issues seen in the saddle can often be traced back to a strength deficit, mobility issue, or motor control problem in the rider. The stronger, straighter, and more independent we can make a rider, the more freedom the horse has to perform to their full potential. A strong rider is a rider that is capable of staying in-phase with the horse, and out of the horse’s way.
If you struggle with any of these issues, a rider performance assessment may be a great next step.
• Directionality (going better on one rein vs. the other)
• Collapsing a hip or trunk to one side
• Dropping shoulder
• Uneven stirrups/ dropping stirrups
• Gripping knee/ swinging leg
• Twisted seat
• “Hard'“ seat or hands
Rider Performance sessions are available to Ontario & non-Ontario residents.
Equine Rehab
Equine rehab is the practice of using physiotherapy-based assessment and treatment techniques on horses. I apply these techniques to treat common equine conditions including general lameness, performance issues, geriatric conditions, post-surgical/post-illness reconditioning, neurological conditions, and respiratory conditions.
As animal care within Ontario is regulated by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, I will require a referral from your vet before proceeding with an assessment. I will keep in close contact with your veterinarian throughout your horse's care, and refer your horse back to your veterinarian if at any point I feel like they would benefit from further medical investigation, or if any presenting signs/symptoms hint at a medical problem or fall outside my scope.
While I am a registered resident physiotherapist, I do not perform "Equine Physiotherapy" as physiotherapy is a protected (human only) title within Ontario. This is really a terminological detail, but throughout your horses care I will refer to myself as an "equine rehab therapist" and your horse will receive "equine rehab therapy".
Professional Consultation
Every equine professional understands the value of multiple perspectives when addressing a horse's needs. This collaborative approach often allows for insights that one might miss when working alone.
Professional consultations are targeted towards veterinarians, farriers, surgeons, bodyworkers, chiropractors, saddle fitters, and anyone in the equestrian industry. Interprofessional collaboration is a staple for ensuring the best possible care is delivered to the horse, and I hold it as a hallmark of my practice.
As such, I offer these professional consultation sessions to other equine professionals seeking the insight of a rehab professional in their case. I bring substantial knowledge from my BSc and MSc in Animal Biosciences, my time as an equine veterinary assistant, and my career as a human physiotherapist to the table, and I'm happy to provide a second opinion, insight, or simply a sounding board for your rehab questions or tough cases.
If you're a physiotherapist stuck on a rider case, I'm happy to provide insight as well. Sometimes, small alterations to a rider's biomechanics, equipment, or training methods can make all the difference in their rehab plan. If you're looking for insight into the world of equestrian rehab, I'm happy to share my knowledge.

Standard clinic format includes two days of individual tailored sessions, including in-depth assessments, coaching, and treatments. All with the intention of empowering you with the tools and strategies to optimize your performance.
Looking for a more flexible option? I also offer RIDER STRONG, a dynamic 90-minute workshop designed for equestrians of all levels.
While you may not want to be married to the gym, understanding the significance of strength & conditioning and crafting actionable strategies to implement it is the key to bridging the gap from good riders to great ones.
This workshop is available live or virtually, and explores the vital role of strength training for riders, covering essential topics and engaging in a full hour of targeted exercises tailored to elevate your riding performance.
